are still too hot....tech adjusted.. now it's perfect! KitchenAid should check this.. I
have been cooking 40+ yrs. so I know what a LOW should be..Other than that.. haven't
used the Convection yet but oven is nice! Better range than the Maytag it replaced!

We bought a new house that came equipped with this range. We felt so lucky to have the, "Cadillac" of appliances, boy were we wrong.
Unless you exclusively boil water, this range is useless.
None of the burners simmer !!
KitchenAID what were you thinking ?
Forget making sauce, soups ANYTHING thats requires you to simmer. Heck I'd even be happy with low but it doesn't do either. !!!
This range should have never been released for purchase. It's like selling a car with one gear.
This thing is being replaced as soon as we can afford it.
Shame on you KitchenAid !!!

We replaced an electric range and the change is wonderful. The huge disappointment, however, is the loss of cookware storage space. Skillets with tilted handles, and avg size sauce pans will not fit. I lost serious pantry storage to accommodate a normal cook set that we kept in our elec range storage drawer.

Minor gas leak from front right burner necessitated the replacement of the first range installed...only reason for a four star. Replacement range made things better, and still would recommend. Really nice design, fit, finish and features....nice to have something clean/modern vs. old Kenmore we kissed goodbye after 20-years. Paired with the built-in microwave for an attractive match.

I love the ability to use the convection feature for baking, cookies -bread- cake turn out perfect. It is very spacious, works well for me as I often have several things cooking at the same time. The stove top is a great gas cooktop. Love the grates and the easy clean up. The oven bakes evenly and is fast to heat up. The aqua lift self clean is the only feature keeping it from 5 stars.
Anything that spills in the oven will require "elbow grease" to clean up.

We replaced all of our major appliances with Kitchenaid. The range was the appliance for me that sealed the deal. I love the cooktop and the large oven is performing far better than our previous Whirlpool oven ever did.
My biggest gripes with the old range was that the burners never got hot enough, the top was rather hard to clean and the grates over the burners were next to impossible to keep clean without a wire brush and hours of elbow grease. And, the oven temperature was always at least 25°F cooler than the set temperature. I had to use an oven thermometer and adjust accordingly.
The new range burners get plenty hot for me to use my wok again and so far, the top it a breeze to keep shiny. The oven -- i'm slow-roasting some pork ribs right now -- is dead on with the temperature. And it seems to preheat in half the time as the old one. This is a big step up for us.
Pros: Just look at it, it's gorgeous! Flat cooking surface, 5 burners, convection oven. What's not to like?
Cons: Okay, the storage drawer underneath is surprisingly 'rattly' and the control pad requires a good push to get them to register. Oh, and a word to the engineers the "Preheat Done, Insert Food" message is cute the first couple of times, but that's going to get old very fast.

I love the looks of this stove and the cooktop cooking. I am not as pleased with the oven, however. The recipes were never done on regular bake or convection. Service came to recalibrate the oven and it still takes longer than recipe calls for. I would opt for an electric oven for more consistency in the future.

Aqualift Technology - Waste of time

I bought this range in April. Just used the Aquallift feature. The oven looks exactly as it did before I used the cleaning cycle. Worst technology ever. Kitchenaid should remove the Aqualift feature and go back to the old cleaning process. The stovetop is great, the cleaning feature not so great!!

Several things I like about this range: The front is not a black-black, it's sort of a charcoal and therefore is just classier looking. The stainless steel ovens looked cheap, in my opinion, although I originally wanted stainless steel to go with my fridge. There is a choice to bake with the convection on or off or you can choose to do the converter, putting in your recipe time and temp and it will convert it to the convection baking for you. The oven heats quickly. There are 3 racks and the inside is a bit larger than my old oven. The edge to edge cooking surface is nice because you don't have to have a pot sitting exactly on a small grate, which sometimes would unseat if I moved the pot without care. Also, there is more room to fit pots on several burners. This range came with the griddle that is moveable to left, right, or middle. I made pancakes on it once and don't think I will use it again unless I have a LOT of pancakes or other griddle things to cook at one time. (washing a griddle pan is much easier than this--although I suppose I could have just wiped it down while on the range). I DO use it as a spoon rest or like a "counter" to hold something temporarily. There is a drawer underneath, which doesn't get hot and will hold a few pans. I'm not sure what I'm going to use the drawer for, but put pans in it to show. Special note: When purchasing a convection oven, make sure it's a Tru-convection...one with a burner at the back of the oven and not just a fan. The only thing I do not like about this is the two front burners on the stove are the hottest. Even the lowest setting in front, is too high to simmer sauce or scramble eggs. I've been told by many friends that most ovens are built this way now. My old stove had one high and one low one in front. So, I'm learning to cook and bake (in a convection) all over again after 40 years of doing it one way! I do use the 5th burner in the middle for some of my low cooking. I AM a cook and I bake for a small business so I am skilled in this area and a good tool is a must for me. This was a great purchase. Don't forget to purchase a hood, if needed!! (we went from a white range to this dark one). I have several photos but they won't upload!!

Looks great but the oven doesn't perform
tvrussell

I have been using this range for a couple of months now. It is a great looking unit! The cooktop portion works well and the larger burners will boil water in less time than my old range.
Unfortunately, the oven does not perform well, in either bake or convection modes. Cooking times are somewhere around 20-30% longer than recipe times, or than our old oven. Using convection baking does not make any difference in cooking times. Baked potatoes have gone from an hour event in the old non-convection oven to an hour and a half in the new one, with or without convection.
We bought a separate oven thermometer and saw temps averaging over 50 degrees below the set temperature, never reaching or exceeding that setting. We filed a warranty claim and the technician came out and checked it out. He claims the temperature cycled between 50 degrees below to 50 degrees above the set temperature during each heating cycle. He ended up recalibrating the oven, basically to make it run 10 degrees hotter than the set temperature. This has helped some, but it still takes longer that the suggested recipe times or the previous unit.
A search on the Internet would seem to show that a good oven's heat cycle range should run between 20 up to 30 degrees around the set temperature. Kitchenaid is certainly supposed to be a very good oven. Our oven has a much wider heat cycle range and it affects its ability to cook properly. It does not perform as well as the low end GE range it replaced.
I sell appliances and have sold a lot of Kitchenaid product, touting their quality and higher performance compared to other brands. I will no longer be able to recommend their ovens based on my experience. While I have other Kitchenaid appliances I'm happy with (dishwasher and MW), this range is a major disappointment.

This is a review for KitchenAid range KFGG500EBS. This has been in constant use since it was installed nine months ago. Prior to the purchase and instillation of this range, my only experience with convection was with several countertop convection microwave ovens. We eat out only for social obligations. Are retired. Love to cook and bake. So, this range is in constant use. Love just about everything about it. Standout features are many. Love that there is a normal round and not oval center fifth burner. We have no use for an oddball shape burner. The griddle placed on the right with the front set to medium low and the rear set to medium high works perfectly. Love that the knobs are metal and not plastic. I read several reviews that these metal knobs get too hot too touch. Know that this is not our experience. With the oven set at 450 for an extended period of time, I find knobs get warm to the touch. Never hot period! Love the aqua lift cleaning feature You shorten the working life of an oven every time you run a self-cleaning cycle that raises oven temperature to 800 degrees. The aqua lift clean cycle is run about every two weeks or so. Just don't let your oven get grimy. Yes, the cooktop has to be cleaned. We use cooktop cleaner and clean cooktop every other day. Know the two cooking grates are heavy. Keep warm feature works flawlessly. I find just using our recipes without the easy convection convert feature come out great. I have an old analog oven thermometer hanging on a back of a rack. Oven temperature is dead on accurate straight from the factory. We did not have to adjust anything. Sealed burners are a must have feature. This oven has them. Love that several trays of cookies can be baked at once without having to turn trays mid-bake. Old range, cookies had to be baked one tray at a time and turned mid-bake. Love the waste height broiler. Meats are cooked to perfection every time. Was surprised oven does not come with broiler tray and pan. Bought one for $20 on Amazon. See they sell similar broiler tray and pans in Walmart for the same price.

The oven looks nice and is 30 inch so I can easily replace my old oven and KA has a 30 inch black stainless steel refrigerator to match it. It would be nice if Kitchen Aid made an Under Cabinet Range Hood that matches...The one KA makes is for Wall Mount so I was pushed right in to buying the gloss black range hood from Whirlpool. So... bottom line... We need a Black Stainless steel under cabinet range hood to match. :/ Other than that... I am pretty happy with my choice.
